Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information MealNest AI collects when you use it, how it's used, and the choices you have. MealNest AI is a personal project operated by Gerardo Santoveña, an individual ("we" or "us" in this policy). By creating an account, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
Information We Collect
We collect: (1) your account details: your email address and how you sign in (email and password, or Google or Apple); your sign-in provider may also share your name; (2) the family members you add: their names and their allergy and diet restrictions; (3) your pantry items, as you type or pick them; (4) the meal plans and recipes generated for your account; and (5) if you subscribe, your subscription status from our payment processor. We never receive or store your payment card details. If you follow a link with a promo code, we keep that code in a cookie for 30 days and on your account, to measure which campaigns bring people to MealNest AI.
How We Use Your Information
We use this information to generate meal plans tailored to your family's restrictions and pantry, to enforce allergy and diet restrictions as hard rules when generating them, to operate and fix the service, to manage paid subscriptions, and to communicate with you about your account. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
Family Member Information
If you add a family member to your account, including a minor, you are providing us with that person's information (such as their name and dietary restrictions) on their behalf. By doing so, you represent that you have the authority to provide that information. Family member information is used only to generate meal plans for your household and is treated with the same care as your own account information.
Consent to Allergy and Diet Information
Allergies and diets are information about health. We store and use the restrictions you enter for your family, including the allergies you type yourself, only with your consent, which you give the first time you save one (a separate box, not part of agreeing to these terms), and only to plan your family's meals. We keep the date you consented. You can withdraw it at any time by removing the restrictions from your family members, or by deleting your account, which removes them at once. Without consent, restrictions can't be saved, and restrictions saved before we asked for consent aren't used for any new meal plan until you give it.
Third-Party Service Providers
We use these providers to run MealNest AI, and each handles your information under its own terms and privacy policy: Clerk, for sign-in and account security; an AI service provider, to generate meal plans, which receives your pantry item names as you typed them, your family's restriction categories and the allergies you type, and recipe ingredients, but never names or email addresses; Northflank, which hosts the app, its database and its logs; Sentry, which receives error reports so we can fix problems, without names, email addresses or IP addresses; and LemonSqueezy, which sells and bills subscriptions as the merchant of record.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your information is stored in the United States and kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Account page with "Delete my account": your account, family members, pantry and meal plans are removed at once. Error reports may remain in Sentry for up to 30 days, and server logs for our hosting provider's retention period.
Data Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. You can do most of this yourself from your Account page, or contact us at hello@mealnestai.com.
Children's Privacy
Our service is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Information about a minor family member may be provided by an adult account holder as described in "Family Member Information" above.
